BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the visiting Bloomfield College Bears on Wednesday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
Bloomfield would get on the scoreboard in the eighth minute to take the early 1-0 lead. Moments later the Bears nearly increased their lead to two goals after a shot hit off the post, but Concordia's deficit would remain only one goal. The Clippers managed only three shots in the first half, but only trailed 1-0 after 45 minutes of play.
In the 51st minute Bloomfield added their second goal of the afternoon and in the 78th and 80th minutes would add on two insurance goals to lead 4-0. Concordia only took two shots in the half as the Bears took the 4-0 shutout victory.
The Clippers were out-shot 14-5 in the game as junior goalkeeper Jaime Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain) made three saves in just under 80 minutes of action. Freshman Carlos Penaherrera (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) finished the final 10-plus minutes of the game in goal for Concordia.
The Clippers (1-3-0, 0-2-0 CACC) will next travel to Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon to take on the defending CACC Champions. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J. following the women's game.
