BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia College men's soccer team hosted the Goldey-Beacom Lightning on Saturday afternoon in their home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener. The Clippers were held scoreless in the game as Goldey-Beacom captured a 4-0 win at Holtdorf Soccer Field.
The Lightning scored their first goal in the 14th minute after a one-timer was sent into the box. Concordia's defense would not allow any easy opportunities for the remainder of the half as Goldey-Beacom led 1-0 after 45 minutes of action.
In the second half the Lighting added their second goal of the game in the 52nd minute and less than eight minutes later added another goal to lead 3-0 in the 60th minute. Goldey-Beacom's final goal occurred in the 85th minute as the Clippers were shutout for the first time at home since 2015.
Junior goalkeeper Jaime Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain) recorded six saves for Concordia as the Clippers were out-shot 18-6 in the game. The Lightning also held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks in the game.
Concordia (1-2-0, 0-1-0 CACC) will next host Bloomfield College on Wednesday in CACC action. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. as fans unable to attend the game can follow the action by accessing the live stats and video links under the men's soccer schedule page on ConcordiaClippers.com.
