Heredia scores two for the Clippers as they win first game of the season
Bronxville, NY - Heredia scores two for the Clippers as they win first game of the season
The Clippers Men's Soccer team hosted Caldwell College today in a
CACC match-up. The Cougars of Caldwell College quickly scored
in less than two minutes into the game giving them the early
lead. The Clippers wouldn't stay down for long.
Alessandro Persampieri got a through ball from Marcin Jaworek and
punched it in for his third goal of the season and to tie the game
up. Minutes later another through ball, this time from Rafael
Espinoza to Ulyses Salceda was chipped in and the Clippers took
their first lead of the game. Caldwell scored to tie the game
a few minutes later but the Clippers offense was not done. A
pass from Jorge Bronoquis to Rich Heredia gave the Clippers the 3-2
lead.
The second half of the game was a battle to see if the Clippers
would hold the lead or would Caldwell attempt to push it into
overtime or take the lead. With less than twelve minutes on
the clock Caldwell scored off of a rebounded ball to tie that game
at three. As the clock ticked down the game was looking like
it was heading into overtime but then a shot from Daniel Espinoza
was blocked and the Caldwell goalie pulled away from the net.
Espinoza then found Rich Heredia and Heredia scored the game
winning goal with just a little over a minute left to play.
This win for the Clippers marks the first win of the season, the first win in the CACC for the Clippers and the first win for Coach Pennetti.
The Clippers will host Chestnut Hill College this Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2:30pm.
