Camerlingo shines through the rain as Clippers drop season opener
Easton, MA - Camerlingo shines through the rain as Clippers drop season opener
The Concordia College Men's soccer opened their season up at the Stonehill College Kick-off tournament against the College of St. Rose.
The first half for the Clippers proved to be a tough one as the College of St. Rose controlled the ball on their end of the pitch. The Clippers worked hard to go on the offensive but were out shot in the half eight to two. The College of St. Rose took an early 2-0 lead over the Clippers in less than twenty minutes into the game. With subs coming in the Clippers held off St. Rose through the rest of the first half.
The second half of the match the Clippers continued to hold the
College of St. Rose off on their offensive strike, thanks to the
help of Clipper Goal Keeper Will Camerlingo. With Camerlingo
defending the goal at one end, the Clippers mounted their offensive
attack. The Clippers came very close to cutting the lead in
half with shots on goal by Guilherme Ferreira (2) and Jorge
Bronoquis (1). Unfortunately St. Rose stopped the Clippers
and held onto their 2-0 lead to win the game.
Will Camerlingo led with seven saves for the Clippers.
The Clippers will next face off against Stonehill College tomorrow, August 29, 2009 at 12:00pm to finish out the tournament.
