Rams Beat Clippers 4-1
Philadelphia, PA - The Concordia College men's soccer team was defeated by the Rams of Philadelphia University 4-1 yesterday in Philadelphia, PA. The Clippers lose their second straight and fall to 3-3 overall. The Rams improve to 2-1-2 on the season.
The first half saw no score, as both teams combined for 9 shots on goal. In the second half, Ryan Flaherty put Philadelphia on the scoreboard first in the 52nd minute on an assist from Michael Mousaw. The Rams would double the score in the 70th minute on a header by Robert Richardson off of a corner kick. Just over a minute later, the Rams would increase their lead to 3-0 on a shot from Svetozar Gladic past the Clipper goalkeeper.
Concordia would cut into the deficit in the 88th minute on a goal by freshman Xhovano Dardha (Clinton Township, MI). Junior Fabian Contreras (New Rochelle, NY) picked up the assist. The Rams would add a late goal 40 seconds later from Lee Ziegler to make the final score 4-1.
Freshman Anthony McCarthy (Nortport, NY) finished with 4 saves in playing the full 90 minutes. Ram goalkeeper Charles Custer allowed a goal and had 7 saves on the day.
The Clippers will return to Holtdorf Soccer Field on Monday, September 15th to host the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in non-conference action. The game will begin at 3:00 PM
