Men's Soccer Falls in Finale 2-0

Brookville, NY - The Concordia College men's soccer team lost their 2008 season finale to the Pioneers of C.W. Post 2-0 yesterday afternoon in Brookville, NY.

The Pioneers went ahead 1-0 in the 25th minute on a shot from Kris Frick, his first goal of the season. That would be all the scoring in the first half of play, as the Pioneers out shot the Clippers 6-1 in the first half and held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks

In the second half, Julian Escobar scored an unassisted goal in the 55th minute to make the final score 2-0.

Freshman Anthony McCarthy (Northport, NY) ended the game with 6 saves. Pioneer goalkeeper Ayrton Haddad collected 2 saves on the day.

Senior Stefan Dimitrov (Bulgaria) took 4 of the 6 shots in the game for the Clippers. Junior Rafael Espinoza (New Rochelle, NY) and sophomore Guilherme Ferreira (Sinop, Brazil) each added a shot. Dimitrov, who has been leading the NCAA Division II in scoring over the past several weeks, finishes the 2008 season with 23 goals and an assist.

Concordia concludes the 2008 season with an overall record of 5-9-3 and 0-5-3 in the East Coast Conference. The Pioneers improve to 9-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the East Coast Conference.
