Concordia Ties NYIT 1-1

Old Westbury, NY - Senior forward Stefan Dimitrov (Bulgaria) scored his 18th goal of the season in a 1-1 tie with the New York Institute of Technology Bears yesterday in an East Coast Conference battle in Old Westbury, NY. It was the second tie in the last three games for the Clippers and moves their record to 5-6-2 overall and 0-2-2 in the East Coast Conference. NYIT goes to 6-6-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in conference play.

Dimitrov struck quickly for the Clippers, as a foul in the 2nd minute gave Concordia a direct kick and the senior forward blasted the ball past Bear goalkeeper Cosimo D'Agostino for a 1-0 lead. Dimitrov is one of the top goal scorers in NCAA Division II Men's Soccer with 18 goals so far this season. 

 

 

NYIT would answer later in the first half when Arisides Campos took a cross from Shawnneil Moulton inside the box and connected past freshman Anthony McCarthy (Northport, NY) to tie the game at 1-1. McCarthy finished the game with 3 saves.

The Bears doubled the number of shots taken in the game (16-8) and finished the game with a 7-3 margin in corner kicks. D'Agostino registered 1 save for the Bears compared to McCarthy's 3 saves.

The Clippers will be back in action on Saturday, October 18th as they travel to Rockville Centre, NY to face the Lions of Molloy College in an important ECC match-up. The game will kick-off at 7:00 PM.
