Men's Soccer defeats Lincoln 3-1

Lincoln University, PA - Junior Ulyses Salceda (Houston, TX) scored the go-ahead goal in the 37th minute, as the Clippers won a non-conference battle against the Lions of Lincoln University 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Lincoln University, PA.  It was the first goal of the season for Salceda.

The Clippers opened the scoring early in the first half on a goal by freshman Daniel Espinoza (New Rochelle, NY), his fifth goal so far this season.

 

 

The Lions would respond in the 24th minute when Seye Adekanye fired the ball to the lower right side of the net past freshman goalkeeper Anthony McCarthy (Northport, NY) to tie the game at 1-1. Minutes before the half, Salceda put Concordia ahead 2-1 with his goal. Junior Rafael Espinoza (New Rochelle, NY) assisted on both Clipper goals in the first half.

The score would remain at 2-1 until the 72nd minute when freshman Richard Heredia (Patchogue, NY) scored an unassisted goal, his third of the season, to put the Clippers up 3-1.

The Clippers out shot Lincoln 13-7 for the game, with 9 shots coming in the first half of action. Concordia held a slight 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. McCarthy finished the game in goal for Concordia with 1 save, while Andre Wilkinson collected 3 saves on the afternoon.

The victory improves the Clippers record to 5-6-1 overall. The Lions fall to 5-6 on the season.

Concordia will travel to Old Westbury, NY on Wednesday, October 15th to take on the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology in an ECC match-up. The game will begin at 4:00 PM.
