Box Score

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's soccer team played their second consecutive overtime game, this time, falling short to the Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan College 3-2 today at Holtdorf Soccer Field. Dan Lobene completed the hat trick, scoring all three goals for the Raiders.

Lobene scored the first goal of the game in the 5th minute on a shot in front of the goal about 20 yards out. Lobene's second goal came in the 34th minute on a penalty kick. The Clippers cut the deficit to 2-1 just before halftime on a blast from junior Christian Castillo (Washington, DC) that sailed over the goalie's outstretched hands and deflected off the cross bar and into the goal. The Clippers tied the game at 2-2 on a chip shot past the goalkeeper by sophomore Ulyses Salceda (Houston, TX) in the 64th minute. Both teams would have opportunities in the final minutes, however, neither team could put one into the net in regulation.

In the overtime period, Lobene shot a ball from the left side past goalkeeper Clint Providence (Kingstown, St. Vincent) 1:49 seconds into the extra period to give the Raiders the 3-2 win. Providence played all 91:49 minutes, allowing 3 goals and registering 1 save. Joe Marino played the entire game for Roberts Wesleyan College, recording 3 saves and giving up 2 goals. The Clippers outshot the Raiders 14-9, with 9 of those shots coming in the second half. Stefan Dimitrov (Bulgaria), the leading scorer for the Clippers took 7 shots in the game, unable to connect on any. Castillo and Salceda both tie Dimitrov as the leading scorer with 2 goals each.

The loss drops the Clippers record to 1-3 overall. Roberts Wesleyan improves to 2-3 overall.
