Men's Soccer Falls to Knights 2-1 in Overtime
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's soccer team lost an East Coast Conference match-up to the Knights of Queens College 2-1 today in overtime at Holtdorf Soccer Field in Bronxville, NY.
The Clippers started off the scoring in the 8th minute on a goal by sophomore Ulyses Salceda (Houston, TX). Junior Christian Castillo (Washington, DC) assisted on the goal, his team leading 5th assist of the season. The Clippers would hold the 1-0 advantage until the 88th minute, when Francisco Patino tied the game at 1-1. The score would remain 1-1 at the end of regulation and head into overtime. In the extra frame, 92:05, junior Stelios Andreou blasted home the game winning goal for Queens College.
Senior Clint Providence (Kingstown, St. Vincent) played in goal for the Clippers, allowing both goals and registering 4 saves. For Queens College, Damian Skiba finished with 3 saves and allowed the early Clipper goal.
The loss drops the Clippers record to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in the East Coast Conference. The Knights improve to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will look to rebound on Saturday, October 6th, as they
travel to Dobbs Ferry, NY to face the Flyers of Mercy College. The
action begins at 11:00 AM.
