Bears Outlast Clippers 3-1
Bronxville, NY - Junior Stefan Dimitrov (Bulgaria) netted his team leading 6th goal of the season, however, the Clippers fell to the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology 3-1 yesterday at Holtdorf Soccer Field in Bronxville, NY. Dimitrov's goal came in the 8th minute off of an assist from freshman Bujar Lajqi (Rugova, Kosova).
The Bears would even the score at 1-1 in the 15th minute on a goal by Kyle Cupid. The score would remain even through the remainder of the first half.
Twenty minutes into the second half, NYIT would claim the lead, as Richard Ingram blasted a shot past senior Clint Providence (Kingstown, St. Vincent) to give the Bears a 2-1 lead. NYIT would add an insurance goal in the 82nd minute by Ryan Blanchy to make the final score 3-1.
Both teams would end the game with 9 shots and each goalie would finish with 2 saves for the game. Providence played the entire 90:00 minutes for Concordia and Cosimo D'Agostino played goalkeeper for the Bears, allowing 1 goal.
The loss drops the Clippers record to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in the East Coast Conference. The Bears improve to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will continue ECC play on Tuesday, October 16th, as
they host the Lions of Molloy College at Holtdorf Soccer Field. The
game will begin at 3:00 PM
