Clippers Fall in Final Seconds 1-0
Rutherford, NJ - The Concordia College men's soccer team was defeated by the Golden Falcons of Felician College 1-0 last night in Rutherford, NJ. Junior Peter Snihur scored on a header with 0:02 seconds left in regulation.
With under a minute left in regulation, the Clippers were whistled for a foul. On the ensuing free kick, the ball was deflected off a Concordia player behind the goal line, setting up a corner kick for the Golden Falcons with just over 0:10 seconds left to play. After setting up, the corner kick by Jorge Cedeno traveled to the middle of the goal area, where Snihur headed the ball past senior Clint Providence (Kingstown, St. Vincent) before the final horn. It was the only shot attempt in the second half for Felician College.
Concordia out shot the host Golden Falcons 23-7, with junior Christian Castillo (Washington, DC) taking 6 shots and sophomore Ulyses Salceda (Houston, TX) and junior Stefan Dimitrov (Bulgaria) each finishing with 4 shots.
Providence finished the game with 3 saves and 1 goal allowed. Nick Lyons patrolled the net for Felician College, totaling 8 saves for the game.
The Clippers record falls to 4-10 overall, while the Golden Falcons pick-up their initial win of the season to improve to 1-13-2 overall.
Concordia will get back into ECC play on Saturday, October 13th,
as they host the Bears of NYIT at Holtdorf Soccer Field. The game
will begin at 2:00 PM.
