DANIELS, W. Va. – The Concordia College men's golf team improved seven positions on the leaderboard after the second round at the 2018 NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regionals at The Resort at Glade Springs on Tuesday to finish one stroke behind Franklin Pierce for 1st. Freshman Minwoo Park (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) tied a tournament-best 69 (-3) this afternoon to lead the individual leaderboard by three strokes.
The men's golf program shot a 295 (+7) as Concordia was the only team out of the field of 20 institutions to shoot sub-300's in both the first and second rounds. The Clippers, who have a two-day total of 592 (+16), are one stroke behind Franklin Pierce for the top spot on the leaderboard as Indiana (Pa.) is one stroke behind Concordia. The top-5 teams are all separated by only five strokes from top to bottom.
Park's 69 was the lowest score out of the 106 participants in the second round as he has a two-day total of 139 (-5). Ryan Rucinski of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Wilmington (Del.) is three strokes behind in second while two players are tied for third with a 143 (-1).
Senior Chartpetch Bangpetch (Chonburi, Thailand) finished with a 74 (+2) on the day as he is now T-19th with a 149 (+5). Junior Kanoon Bunthanawong (Chonburi, Thailand) matched yesterday's round with another 76 (+4) as he has a 152 (+8) and is T-40th after two rounds.
Senior Mark Kilpatrick (Cheshire, England, United Kingdom) carded a 78 (+6) to place T-55th with a 154 (+10) while junior Evan Hong (Houston, Texas) rounded out the scores for the Clippers with a 76 (+4) to finish T-59th with a 155 (+11).
Concordia will play in the final round tomorrow as they are scheduled to tee off at 12:50 p.m. back at The Resort at Glade Springs. Live stats are available under the men's golf schedule page on ConcordiaClippers.com.
The top-three finishing teams in the three round tournament will qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama beginning on Monday, May 21st.
