CROFTON, Md. – The Concordia Clippers men's golf team began their spring schedule with a visit to California's (Pa.) Coaches Intercollegiate Classic at the Crofton Country Club. Concordia would come away with a 3rd place finish out of 13 programs, 12 strokes behind the hosts for the team title.
As a team the Clippers shot a 309 (+63) in the two-day, three round tournament. Concordia was tied for 1st with Bentley after the second round as the Clippers' 301 (+13) in the second round would be the lowest total out of any program during the first 36 holes.
Senior Chartpetch Bangpetch (Chonburi, Thailand) would shoot a 227 (+11) for the lowest score out of the five participants for Concordia as he shot a 76 (+4), 79 (+7), and 72 (E) to place T-4th out of 73 participants. Junior Kanoon Bunthanawong (Chonburi, Thailand) recorded a top-20 finish as his 80 (+8), 76 (+4), and 76 (+4) would allow him to place T-11th with a 232 (+16).
Sophomore Tyler Lanza (New Milford, Conn.) finished with a 236 (+20) as his 81 (+9), 75 (+3), and 80 (+8) would put him T-22nd. Freshman Minwoo Park (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) would place two strokes behind Lanza as Park's 80 (+8), 77 (+5), and 81 (+9) allowed him to finish with a 238 (+22) in T-26th. Junior Evan Hong (Houston, Texas) rounded out the scores for the Clippers with a 239 (+23) as he would card an 83 (+11), 73 (+1), and an 83 (+11) to place T-28th.
Concordia will return to Maryland on April 8th for the two-day St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational at the Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Md.
