Clippers Grab Second Win of Fall Season

The Clippers Men's Golf Team hosted their first tournament yesterday at Century Country Club in Purchase, New York.  The Clippers took the tournament with a 309 team score, 16 shots over the second place finisher.

The Clippers were led by Jeffrey Schaller, who shot a one over par 73 for the day.  Schaller took first place overall edging out his teammate Kyle Grandilli (76) by three shots and earning medalist honors.

Sam Deitte, finishing fourth for the Clippers, carded an 82 for the round, placing him in a tie for 7th position overall.  Three shots behind Deitte, his brother Will Deitte posted an 85 (his third best round of the fall), which placed him just outside the top ten in a tie for 11th place.

Along with winning the tournament as a team, Jeffrey Schaller took home the Nelson Long Medalist Award, named in honor of the longtime Century Country Club Head Professional, for his round of 73.

In addition to the individual medalist award, an All-Tournament Team was announced. Along with Schaller, Kyle Grandilli and Lorenz Kolmeder (78) of the Clippers were named to the All-Tournament Team.  Joining the three Clippers on the team were Ray Weinmann (79) of Nassau Community College, along with Alex Macielak (79) and Grant Alter (80) of Bentley College.

The Clippers finished their fall season with a 22-15 head-to-head record in the East Region along with a 12-2 record in the CACC.  The Clippers will return to the links in the Spring of 2011.
