BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College men's basketball team would come up short in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game on Tuesday evening as the visiting Chargers of Dominican College (N.Y.) secured a 78-72 win in the Meyer Athletic Center.
The Clippers were held scoreless in the early going of the first half as the Chargers held a 15-0 advantage at the 16:21 mark. Dominican maintained their double digit lead on the scoreboard until five unanswered points for Concordia brought the score to 26-17 with 9:14 remaining on the clock. Seven straight points later on for the Clippers cut their deficit to four, 28-24, and at the 4:44 mark Concordia was within a basket, 32-30. The Chargers wouldn't relinquish the lead for the remainder of the half, ending on an 8-5 run as the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 40-35.
Concordia continued to battle on the offensive end and after five unanswered points would grab their first lead of the game, 42-41, at the 15:28 mark. From here the lead would change hands seven times up until Dominican led 61-60 with 6:01 to go in regulation. Neither side was able to gain a sizable lead on the scoreboard until the Chargers led 67-62 at the 3:29 mark. The Clippers would trim the deficit to as little as four with 45 seconds to go, but were unable to get any closer as Dominican held on for the 78-72 victory.
Redshirt-junior Cedrick McFadden (Washington, D.C.) led Concordia with 20 points while adding three rebounds as junior Stephen Milhaven (Port Washington, N.Y.) added 15 points and three rebounds. Junior Michael Demello (White Plains, N.Y.) finished with a team-best nine rebounds.
The Clippers (4-4, 0-2 CACC) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon to host Post University.
