BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Head Coach Brian Sondey and the Concordia College men's basketball team held their 5th annual summer camp at the Meyer Athletic Center this week. The four-day camp began on Monday, August 11th and ended on Thursday, August 14th and was attended by roughly 50 campers from the local area.
"In the five years I have been here and running this summer program this was by far the best the camp has been in many aspects," stated Sondey. "We had a hard working and talented group of campers of all ages who really wanted to learn more about the game of basketball. Our summer program is unique because our college players really invest in the kids for a week and it shows in the development of the kids."
Coach Sondey was referring to members of the Clippers men's basketball team who could help out during the week. Players who worked as coaches at the camp included Tshyrad Oates, Chris Gordy, Jamie Holder, Mohamed Abass, Justyn Gardner, Cedrick Mcfadden, Michael Fields, Elijah Brown, and Peter Aguilar III.
"We would have never been able to run a successful and established camp for 5 consecutive years without the help of the entire campus including our tremendous athletic department," continued Sondey. "I also want to make sure I thank the parents and campers who have attended not only this year, but in years past to create our longstanding camp program. We are working very hard as a program to be active in our communities, and I think this camp shows a great relationship between our program and neighboring towns. The camp allows for our players to bond together for an entire week before school starts and this is invaluable."
This fall the Concordia men's basketball program is hopeful to be holding their 5th Annual Friday Night Clinics during September and October. The clinics would be held in the Meyer Athletic Center as more information can be provided by contacting Coach Sondey at Brian.Sondey@concordia-ny.edu.
