Clippers grab overtime win over Rams
The Clippers squared off against the Philadelphia University Rams earlier this afternoon in CACC action. William Eason kicked the game off with a jumper. The Clippers went toe-to-toe with the Rams but were able to control a few point lead in the beginning minutes of the game. The Rams pushed back on the court but the Clippers were able to extend their lead a little. The Rams charged back into the game and were able to tie the game with 41 seconds left in the first half. With one last play in the half the Clippers had the ball and a three-pointer from Brendan Lyn put the Clippers up at the half, 32-29.
The second half went off and the Clippers held a very tight lead over the Rams. The Rams then got two quick buckets and were able to tie the game up half way through the half. The Clippers however turned and took the lead back and extended it out to 58-49 with 8:32 left on the clock. The Rams charged forward and were able to cut the Clipper lead down and tie the game up once more. With the clock encroaching on zero both teams traded buckets and the game was tied at 74-74 at the end of regulation.
The Rams scored first in overtime but it was the Clippers that made the impression soon after. The Clippers tied the game and then grabbed the lead from the Rams. The Clippers then held the Rams off until through the rest of the final minutes and claimed a 92-86 win.
Argelix Gil posted big numbers with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Brandon Whitaker knocked down 25 points while Brendan Lyn added 20 of his own for the game.
The Clippers will next face off with Nyack College on Thursday, February 3rd at 7:00pm.
