Colchester, VT - Clippers fall to Mercyhurst in season opener

The Clippers Men's Basketball team opened up their season today at the Doubletree Doc Jacobs Tournament at St. Michael's College in Vermont.  The first opponent the Clippers faced would be Mercyhurst College. 

Mercyhurst took the quick lead to start the game off.  With the Clippers finally starting to gel together on the court they climbed their way back into the game.  With twelve points in the paint the Clippers were only down by 8 at the half, 30-22.

The Clippers started the second half a little flat and Mercyhurst took control and stretched their lead.  The Clippers worked to try and cut the lead down small enough but were unable to push through.  Mercyhurst closed the door for the Clippers to come back and took game one of the tournament 74-59.

William Eason led the Clippers with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds on the night.   Argelix Gil led offensively with 13 points.

The Clippers will play host school St. Michael's tomorrow.
