Tampa, FL - Clippers make a come back with Eason at the helm but come up short with the University of Tampa
As the snow falls in New York the Clippers sailed south to face off against the University of Tampa in sunny Tampa, Florida in the Tampa Classic. The Clippers started off a little cold in the first half still adjusting to the temp in the Tampa gym. The University of Tampa Spartans kicked the heat on the Clippers and took a commanding lead. With the first half closing the Spartans held their lead over the Clippers, 48-31.
The second half of the game the Clippers again were a bit slow to
start as the Spartans took a 21 point lead with a little over 14
minutes left to play. With the Spartans lead so great the
Clippers kicked into high gear and started their game. The
Clippers climbed all the way back cutting the Spartan lead down to
just 2 points with a little over 6 minutes to play. In that 8
minute time period the Clippers outscored the Spartans 30 to
11. The Clippers kept on moving but the Spartans would not go
quietly. The Clippers fell to the Spartans 86-81.
Will Eason was at the helm of the Clippers with 20 points and 17
rebounds. Lavor Morris put in his share with 19 points while
Brandon Whitaker knocked down 13 points and Argelix Gil added 12
points.
The Clippers will face off with Eckerd College tomorrow night at 5:30pm at the University of Tampa Classic.
