Olsen Garners ECC All-Rookie Honors

Central Islip, NY - Freshman Daniel Olsen (Stafford, CT) was selected to the East Coast Conference All-Rookie Team, as announced by the conference office today.

Olsen played in all 30 games and started in 12 contests for a Clipper team that finished the 2008-2009 season with an overall record of 7-23 and 5-13 in ECC action. Olsen averaged 6.5 points per game, 4th best on the team and 6.3 rebounds per game, which ranks 2nd best on the team. The freshman shot 44.7% (72 for 161) from the field and averaged 21.2 minutes per game.

Olsen collected 5 double-doubles this season for the Clippers. Olsen's season high point total came on December 20, 2008 at the Puerto Rico Lexmark Holiday Tournament in Carolina, Puerto Rico against Northwood University (FL). Olsen shot 60% (6 for 10) from the floor in scoring 15 points in an 80-69 loss to the Seahawks. Two times this season, Olsen has pulled down 13 rebounds. In a December 6th match-up with ECC foe Molloy College, Olsen finished with 13 rebounds and matched his season high in rebounds three games later on December 14th against Bentley University. Olsen grabbed 7 offensive boards in a 96-65 loss to the Falcons.
