Men's Basketball Scores 62-52 Road Win Over Dowling

Oakdale, NY - Senior Alban Shala (Yorktown Heights, NY) sparked the Clippers with a team high 12 points off the bench in a 62-52 win over the Golden Lions of Dowling College yesterday at Dowling Gymnasium in Oakdale, NY. Shala earned all 12 points from behind the 3-point line, as the senior shot 4 for 9 (44.4%) from long distance.

Junior Kenny Gaskins (Bronx, NY) finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, while teammate Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Sophomore William Eason (Springfield, MA) was a basket shy of a double-double, finishing with 8 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Sean Walker (Bridgeport, CT) chipped in 8 points on 3 for 5 (60%) shooting from the floor.

For Dowling College, David Seagers collected 16 points and 5 rebounds and Josh Lowe scored 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Keith Nandin added 8 points and 6 rebounds. Beijon Warrington had a team high 8 rebounds.

The Clippers end a 5-game losing streak and improve to 6-17 overall and 4-8 in the East Coast Conference. The Golden Lions fall to 9-12 on the season and 7-5 in conference play.

The Clippers return to action on Wednesday, February 11th, as they host the Pioneers of C.W. Post in an East Coast Conference battle. The Pioneers are currently on an 18-game winning streak and are ranked #2 in the nation in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll released on February 3rd. The Pioneers outlasted the Clippers 78-69 back on January 12th in Brookville, NY. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
