Clippers Fall to Lions 81-73

Rockville Centre, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team lost an 81-73 decision to the Lions of Molloy College last night at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, NY. The Clippers are mired in a 5 game losing streak and drop to 5-17 overall and 3-8 in the East Coast Conference. The Lions improve to 7-13 overall and 6-5 in conference action.

Sophomore Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) led Concordia with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Junior Troy Young (Largo, MD) came of the bench to add 16 points and 6 rebounds, while teammate Dan Cunningham (Ulster Park, NY) finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Junior Kenny Gaskins (Bronx, NY) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists and freshman Daniel Olsen (Stafford, CT) collected 7 points and 9 rebounds.

For the Lions, Girard Fitts and Carl Palmer each scored a game high 20 points. Brian Hutchinson finished with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Matt Wafula chipped in 11 points and 4 rebounds.

The Clippers will return to the court on Saturday, February 7th in Oakdale, NY against the Golden Lions of Dowling College. In the teams match-up earlier this season, Dowling defeated the Clippers 67-60 on December 10th at the Meyer Athletic Center. The game will begin at 4:00 PM.
