Concordia Falls in Home Finale 75-50
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team was defeated last night in their final home East Coast Conference match-up by the Adelphi University Panthers 75-50 at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. The loss officially eliminates Concordia from the upcoming East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. The Clippers fall to 7-22 overall and 5-12 in the conference. The Panthers improve to 19-7 on the season and 13-4 in the East Coast Conference.
Senior Alphonso DuHart (Hillside, NJ) scored 13 points for the Clippers on 50% (5 for 10) shooting from the floor. Sophomore Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added 9 points and senior Alban Shala (Yorktown Heights, NY) finished with 8 points. Senior Dan Cunningham (Ulster Park, NY) collected a game high 9 rebounds.
For the Panthers, Alvin Vivican led all scorers with 24 points and Richard Byrd chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Mike McDuffie finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds, while David Akinyooye added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
The Clippers will end the 2008-2009 men's basketball season on the road in Bridgeport, CT on Saturday, February 28th as they take on the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in an ECC contest. The Purple Knights downed the Clippers 90-58 at the Meyer Athletic Center back on January 28th. Batista led the Clippers with 16 points in that contest. The game is slated for a 3:00 PM start time.
