Men's Basketball defeats Mercy 72-54

Bronxville, NY - Senior Dan Cunningham (Ulster Park, NY) secured a double-double, scoring 15 points and a game high 14 rebounds, as the Clippers defeated the Mavericks of Mercy College 72-54 yesterday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers improve to 7-21 overall and 5-11 in the East Coast Conference. The Mavericks remain winless at 0-25 overall and 0-16 in conference play. Concordia maintains their hopes for a playoff spot in the upcoming ECC Men's Basketball Tournament. With two games remaining, the Clippers are currently 1 game out of the playoff picture, sitting behind Queens College and Molloy College, who are both tied for the 8th and final playoff spot.

Junior Troy Young (Largo, MD) added 15 points and 4 assists and Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) chipped in 12 points and 2 rebounds. Junior Kenny Gaskins (Bronx, NY) and sophomore William Eason (Springfield, MA) each finished with 6 points and 7 rebounds. Freshman Daniel Olsen (Stafford, CT) pulled down 6 rebounds for the Clippers.

For the Mavericks, Ed Wilson had a game high 18 points and 5 rebounds, while Justin McMullen finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Jason Charles chipped in 9 points and 4 rebounds.

The Clippers will conclude the home portion of their 2008-2009 schedule on Wednesday, February 25th, as they take on the Panthers of Adelphi University in an ECC showdown. The Clippers lost the Panthers 73-56 back on January 24th in Garden City, NY. Olsen collected a double-double in that contest, scoring 14 points and a game high 12 rebounds. The game is slated to tip-off at 7:00 PM.
