Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team was defeated by the second ranked Pioneers of C.W. Post 91-69 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY.

The Clippers were led by a pair of sophomores. Sean Walker (Bridgeport, CT) and Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) finished with 15 points apiece and shot a combined 12 for 21 (57.1%) from the floor, including 4 for 8 (50%) from 3-point range. Batista also had a game high 3 blocks. Junior Kenny Gaskins (Bronx, NY) flirted with a triple-double, scoring 13 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and handing out 8 assists. Freshman Daniel Olsen (Stafford, CT) collected a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore William Eason (Springfield, MA) finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

For C.W. Post, Jonathan Schmidt shot 8 for 12 (66.6%) in scoring a game high 22 points. Schmidt also had 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Kenny Burkes and Nicolas Carter scored 15 points each and Kevin Spann added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Lyndon Daniel just missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

The Pioneers took control early in the game Down 4-2, a conventional 3-point play by Schmidt sparked a 30-6 scoring run to put the Pioneers ahead 32-10 at the 10:31 mark in the first half.

A basket by senior Alban Shala (Yorktown Heights, NY) cut the Clipper deficit to 16 points at 36-20. But that would be as close as the Clippers would get the remainder of the game, as the Pioneers would close out the first half by out scoring Concordia 19-7 to take a commanding 55-27 lead into the locker room.

The loss drops the Clippers record to 6-18 on the year and 4-9 in the East Coast Conference. The second ranked Pioneers remain perfect on the season at 19-0 overall and 13-0 in the East Coast Conference.

Concordia will hit the road on Saturday, February 14th as they take on the Queens College Knights in Flushing, NY. The Knights defeated the Clippers 68-60 earlier this season at the Meyer Athletic Center. Both the Knights and Clippers are currently tied for the 8th and final playoff spot in the upcoming ECC Men's Basketball Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 PM.
