Dowling Comes Back to Defeat Clippers 67-60

Bronxville, NY - The Dowling College men's basketball team used a 20-3 scoring run to close out the game and defeat the Clippers 67-60 tonight in an East Coast Conference game at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. The loss drops the Clippers to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the East Coast Conference. Dowling improves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

The Clippers were led by sophomore Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico), who finished with 21 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore William Eason (Springfield, MA) scored 12 points and gathered 14 rebounds for the Clippers. Senior Dan Cunningham (Ulster Park, NY) finished with 9 points and 7 rebounds.

For the Golden Lions, David Seagers had a game high 28 points and 7 rebounds. Sean Smith finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds, while Alioune Ndiaye and Keith Nandin each chipped in 10 points.

The Clippers led 57-47 with 5:41 left to play. A 3-pointer by Nandin cut the Golden Lion deficit to 1 point at 59-58 with just over 3 minutes remaining.

A foul by Eason put Nandin on the free throw line for two shots, where he would connect on both to give Dowling a 60-59 lead with 2:10 left to play. The Golden Lions would maintain the lead the rest of the way.

The Clippers will travel to Easton, MA on Saturday, December 13th to face the Stonehill College Skyhawks in a non-conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
