Fordham Defeats Clippers 94-75
Bronx, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team was defeated by the Rams of Fordham University 94-75 this past Friday night in an exhibition game at Rose Hill Gymnasium in Bronx, NY.
The Clippers were led by sophomore Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico), who finished with a team high 17 points on 6-7 shooting (86%) from the floor, including a perfect 3-3 from behind the 3-point arc. Batista also had 2 rebounds in 27 minutes of action. Senior Alban Shala (Yorktown Heights, NY) collected 14 points on 6-10 shooting (60%) in only 12 minutes of play. Sophomore Sean Walker (Bridgeport, CT) scored 9 points and had 2 steals, while senior Dan Cunningham (Ulster Park, NY) added 8 points and a team high 12 rebounds for the Clippers.
For the Rams, Jio Fontan scorched the nets for a game high 28 points on 10-15 shooting (67%) and 7-11 (64%) from the free throw line. Mike Moore collected a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Trey Blue also finished with 18 points and a game high 6 assists and Chris Bethel added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Alberto Estwick chipped in 11 points.
Concordia will open the 2008-2009 regular season at the Adelphi University Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, November 15th against the Chargers of Dominican College. The game will begin at 5:00 PM.
