Bridgeport Shoots Down Concordia 90-58
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting University of Bridgeport team and was defeated 90-58 in an East Coast Conference game last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. The loss drops the Clippers record to 5-15 overall and 3-6 in the East Coast Conference. The Purple Knights move to 12-6 on the year and 6-3 in ECC competition.
Sophomore Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) led Concordia with 16 points and 3 steals. Junior Kenny Gaskins (Bronx, NY) finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Sophomore William Eason (Springfield, MA) added 7 points and 5 rebounds, while teammate Alphonso DuHart (Hillside, NJ) chipped in 6 points and 4 rebounds.
The Purple Knights shot 55% (33 for 60) from the floor, including 10 for 21 (47.6%) from 3-point range. Bridgeport was led by Lee Frazier who scored 19 points. Teairez Stennis finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Steve Martin and Dave Boykin added 13 points and 12 points, respectively.
The Clippers will be back in action on Saturday, January 31st, as they host the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology in an ECC battle. In their previous meeting this season, the Clippers defeated the Bears 85-76 back on December 3rd in Old Westbury, NY. The game will begin at 3:00 PM.
