Batista's 19 Points Sends Clippers to Victory
Sparkill, NY - Sophomore Samuel Batista (Carolina, Puerto Rico) tallied a game high 19 points to lead the Clippers to a 60-44 win over St. Thomas Aquinas this past Saturday afternoon at Aquinas Hall in Sparkill, NY. Batista shot 50% (7 for 14) from the floor, including 5 for 9 (55.5%) from 3-point range and finished with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Junior Kenny Gaskins (Bronx, NY) and sophomore William Eason (Springfield, MA) both collected double-doubles for the Clippers. Gaskins had 11 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds, while Eason added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Dan Cunningham (Ulster Park, NY), junior Troy Young (Largo, MD) and freshman Daniel Olsen (Stafford, CT) each chipped in 6 points for the Clippers.
For St. Thomas Aquinas, Ra'Shad James finished with 13 points and 3 rebounds and Linton Brown added 10 points and 2 rebounds. Jamie Blanchard and Ahmed Allen contributed 4 points apiece for the Spartans.
With the win, the Clippers improve to 4-12 on the season and 2-4 in the East Coast Conference. The Spartans fall to 5-8 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Concordia will travel to Dobbs Ferry, NY on Wednesday, January 21st to take on the Mercy College Mavericks in an East Coast Conference encounter. The game will start at 7:00 PM.
