Clippers Stumble Against Panthers 63-59

Garden City, NY - Freshman William Eason (Springfield, MA) scored a season high 15 points in a losing effort as the Clippers lost to the Adelphi University Panthers 63-59 last night at Woodruff Hall in Garden City, NY. Eason also pulled down 6 rebounds and shot 5-7 (71%) from the floor and 5-6 (83%) from the free throw line. Sophomore Torrance McGill (Manhattan, NY) scored in double figures for the third straight game, finishing with 11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Junior Dan Cunningham (Kingston, NY) scored a season high 10 points for the Clippers and pulled down a season high 6 rebounds. Alban Shala (Yorktown Heights, NY) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds.

 

 

The Panthers were led by Richard Byrd, who scored 14 points. Alvin Vivican III and Pat Luptowski each added 13 points and Mike McDuffie chipped in 8 points. Sky Khaleel controled the boards for Adelphi with a game high 8 rebounds.

The Clippers were down 54-42 with under 05:00 minutes remaining. A 3-pointer by Shala cut the Panther lead to single digits. Eason connected on two free throws and Cunningham made a basket and ensuing foul shot to make the score 56-52 with 01:40 left in the game. Vivican III responded for the Panthers with a jumper to increase the lead to 6 points. Cunningham scored on a lay-up with 00:42 seconds left to cut the Clipper deficit to 58-54. Concordia was forced to foul to gain possession, however, Adelphi would connect on 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to ice the game.

The loss drops the Clippers record to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the East Coast Conference. Adelphi improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers will travel to Dobbs Ferry, NY on Saturday, December 8th to take on the Mercy College Mavericks in East Coast Conference action. The game will begin at 3:00 PM.
