Men's Basketball Tops STAC 68-51

Bronxville, NY - Sophomore Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) had season highs with 13 points and 8 assists to help the Clippers defeat the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College 68-51 today at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Gaskins also pulled down 6 rebounds and was a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line. Senior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY) led all scorers with 18 points. Sophomore Torrence McGill (Manhattan, NY) posted his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. McGill shot a season high 60% (6-10) from the floor and also had 6 steals in the game.

 

 

The Spartans got a two free throws from RaChase to cut the Clipper lead to 34-31 with 17:04 left to play. Concordia proceeded to go on a 10-0 scoring run to increase the lead to 44-31 with 15:00 minutes remaining. The Spartans would get no closer than 9 points the rest of the game. Freshman William Eason (Springfield, MA) scored 10 points and finished with 6 rebounds.

For St. Thomas Aquinas, Chase and Chris Williams both scored 12 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Jelani Winfield and Brian Harnischfeger each added 8 points. Willis Kettrell had a team high 5 rebounds and 7 points.

The win improves the Clippers record to 1-3 overall and evens their East Coast Conference record at 1-1. The Spartans fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers will look to make it two wins in a row on Wednesday, December 5th, as they travel to Garden City, NY to take on the Panthers of Adelphi University. The action begins at 7:30 PM.
