Men's Basketball Falls to Saint Anselm 78-66

Bridgeport, CT - The Concordia College men's basketball team lost a 78-66 decision to the Hawks of Saint Anselm College 78-66 last night at the ECAC-UB Holiday Classic held at the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium on the campus of the University of Bridgeport.

The Clippers were led by senior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY), who tallied 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Junior Troy Young (Bowie, MD) finished the game with 13 points in just 14 minutes of action. Young was 4-6 (67%) shooting from the floor and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.  Freshman Sean Walker (Bridgeport, CT) and sophomore Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) chipped in 9 points and 8 points, respectively.

 

 

For Saint Anselm, Junior Mitchell scored a game high 22 points on 8-9 (89%) shooting, including 5-6 (83%) from 3-point range. Branimir Zeko finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Chris Vetrano chipped in 14 points and John Mariano and Giovanni Carenza added 6 points apiece.

The loss drops the Clippers record to 4-5 overall. The Hawks improve to 5-4 on the season.

The Clippers will travel to Seattle, WA and compete in the Oak Harbor Classic held at Seattle Pacific University on Friday and Saturday, December 28th -29th. Concordia will battle the host Falcons of Seattle Pacific University on Friday at 7:00 PM PST and will take on the Seattle University Redhawks on Saturday at 5:00 PM PST.
