Clippers Drop a Pair of Games in Florida
The Concordia College men's basketball traveled to sunny Jacksonville, FL this past weekend for a pair of games. Concordia opened the trip on Friday, November 17th with a 73-57 loss to NAIA Edward Waters College. The Clippers were led by forward Richard Fields (Bronx, NY), who scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Junior guard William Cherry (Mt. Vernon, NY) also scored 13 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and handed out 4 assists. Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) and Alphonso Duhart (Hillsdale, NJ) each chipped in 7 points for the Clippers.
For Edward Waters, James Perry scored a game high 20 points and Ulysses Bain added 15 points. Bobby Brown registered a game high 14 rebounds for the Tigers.
On Sunday, November 19th, the Clippers fell to the Ospreys of the University of North Florida 77-72. Fields scored a game high 23 points and hauled in 5 rebounds. Cherry and Gaskins III scored 17 points and 16 points, respectively. Lamont Wilson (New York, NY) grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.
For North Florida, Rashad Williams scored 20 points , pulled down 8 rebounds and had 5 assists. Aaron Caruthers added 13 points and Germaine Sparkes chipped in 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Clippers record falls to 0-3 on the season.
Concordia will look to get on track and pick-up their initial win of the season on Wednesday, November 29th, as they travel to Sparkill, NY to face the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College. The game will begin at 7:30 PM.
