Clippers Lose Third Straight game
Garden City, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team dropped their third straight East Coast Conference game last night to the Panthers of Adelphi University 71-59 in Garden City, NY. The Clippers were led by junior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY), who tallied a game high 22 points. Fields has led Concordia in scoring in the last 4 games and 6 out of the last 7 games. Freshman Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) turned in a good all-around performance with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Senior Jonathan Duperon (Philadelphia, PA) added 9 points and 6 rebounds and Bobby Spezzano (Greenwich, CT) and Alphonso Duhart (Hillside, NJ) each chipped in 7 points. Junior Lamont Wilson (New York, NY) pulled down a game high 10 rebounds. The loss drops the Clippers overall record to 6-12, with a East Coast Conference record of 5-7.
For the Panthers, Kimani Blaize finished the game with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Alvin Vivican totaled 13 points and 5 rebounds. Vivican shot 3 for 4 (75%) from behind the 3-point arc. Samuel Jenkins and Donnell Cummings chipped in 12 points and 10 points, respectively. Adelphi improves their record to 10-9 overall and 7-5 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will return to the Meyer Athletic Center on Saturday, February 3rd, as they host the Mercy College Flyers. The Clippers survived a colossal comeback against the Flyers to hold on for an 84-77 victory back on Monday, January 8th. The game will begin at 1:00 PM.
