Clippers Stumble Against Purple Knights 62-46
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights 62-46 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Junior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY) led all scorers with 19 points. Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Lamont Wilson (New York, NY) controlled the boards with a game high 12 rebounds, to go along with 6 points. Senior Cameron Johnson (Uniondale, NY) chipped in 3 points for the Clippers.
For the Purple Knights, Jeremy Benjamin totaled 16 points and 8 rebounds. Japhet McNeil added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Anthony Davis finished with 13 points. Ernest Daney chipped in 12 points on 5 for 9 (56%) shooting.
The loss drops the Clippers record to 8-16 overall and 7-11 in the East Coast Conference. The University of Bridgeport improves to 16-7 overall and 11-6 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will resume action on Saturday, February 17th, as they travel to Flushing, NY to face the Queens College Knights. Back on January 20th, Wilson's buzzard-beating basket gave the Clippers a thrilling 67-65 victory over the Knights at the Meyer Athletic Center. Fields led the Clippers with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Senior Jonathan Duperon (Philadelphia, PA) chipped in 17 points on 50% (6 for 12) shooting, including 4 for 8 (50%) from 3-point range. Lance Hazel totaled a game high 25 points and 13 rebounds for the Knights and Marvin Lawrence added 16 points. The game will begin at 7:30 PM.
