Lakers Top Clippers
Erie, PA - The Concordia College men's basketball team was defeated by the Lakers of Mercyhurst College 82-64 last night in Erie, PA. The Clippers fell into an early deficit, trailing 17-4 six minutes into the game. Concordia would battle back and cut the Laker lead to 17-12, but, would not get any closer the rest of the way.
The Clippers were led by freshman guard Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY), who scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Junior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Senior forward Bobby Spezzano (Greenwich, CT) totaled a season high 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Junior Lamont Wilson (New York, NY) played 33 minutes for the Clippers, the most this season, and chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
For Mercyhurst, Richard Field scored a game high 16 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Avi Fogel added 14 points and 4 assists. Mitch Brennan and Ryann Bradford each chipped in 10 points for the Lakers.
The Clippers fall to 3-6 on the season. The Lakers win their fifth straight game to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Concordia will get back into East Coast Conference action in 2007, as they take on the Flyers of Mercy College. The game will be played on Monday, January 8th at The Westchester County Center and will begin at 7:00 PM.
