Knights Slay Clippers 88-74
Flushing, NY - Bobby Spezzano (Greenwich, CT) was a rebound shy of a double-double, as the senior pulled down 9 rebounds and scored 13 points in a losing effort, as the Clippers fell to the Knights of Queens College 88-74 tonight in Flushing, NY. Spezzano shot 67% (6 for 9) from the floor. Junior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY) led Concordia with a game high 26 points. Freshman guard Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds and a team high 7 assists and Lamont Wilson (New York, NY) chipped in 6 points and 8 rebounds. The loss drops the Clippers record to 8-17 overall and 7-12 in the East Coast Conference.
For the Knights, Hassan Washington scored 20 points, dished out 10 assists and pulled down 5 rebounds. Bradd Wierzbicki finished with 18 points and Khaleef Alicott added 16 points. Mike Liander chipped in 11 points. Marvin Lawrence led the Knights with 9 rebounds. Queens College improves to 12-13 overall and 9-9 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers have now lost a season high 4 straight games and currently sit in the eighth and final playoff spot in the upcoming East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. Concordia is a half-game ahead of the University of New Haven, whom Concordia will host next Saturday.
Concordia will step out of conference action on Thursday,
February 22nd, as they host the Ravens of Franklin Pierce College
in the East Coast Conference/Northeast-10 Challenge. The game is
set for tip-off at 7:00 PM.
