First Place Bears Escape With 68-63 Victory
Bronxville, NY - Richard Fields (Bronx, NY) just missed a double-double, as the junior scored a game high 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in a 68-63 loss to the NYIT Bears today at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Freshman Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) finished with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Gaskins also had 3 assists and 3 steals. Senior Nate Jean-Baptiste (Far Rockaway, NY) scored 10 points for the Clippers. Bobby Spezzano (Greenwich, CT) collected a game high 14 rebounds, a season high for the senior.
For the Bears, Bryant Lassiter finished with 17 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Miguel Pierre Fanfan added 13 points and 12 rebounds and Kirk Stewart had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
The loss drops the Clippers record to 8-14 overall and 7-9 in the East Coast Conference. The Bears improve to 16-6 overall and 12-3 in the East Coast Conference. The Clippers are currently sitting in the 8th and final playoff spot in the upcoming East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament with 4 conference games remaining.
Concordia will return to action on Tuesday, February 13th
against the Molloy College Lions. The Clippers defeated the Lions
71-68 on January 13th. Fields led the Clippers with a season high
32 points in that contest. Jean-Baptiste added 13 points. Molloy
was led by Jesus Zapata, who tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Keith Tiley and Glenn Martin each chipped in 14 points. The game
will be played at the Meyer Athletic Center and will begin at 7:00
PM.
