Clippers Fall to Purple Knights

Bridgeport, CT - The Concordia College men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights 88-79 last night in Bridgeport, CT. The loss drops the Clippers record to 5-9 overall and 4-4 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers had one of their best shooting nights of the season, shooting 50% (25 for 50) for the game, including 11 for 22 (50%) from 3-point range. Concordia was almost perfect from the free throw line as well, shooting a season best .947 (18 for 19). Freshman Kenny Gaskins III (Bronx, NY) led Concordia with 18 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Senior forward Jonathan Duperon (Philadelphia, PA) totaled 17 points on 6 for 8 (75%) shooting. Duperon also grabbed a team high 6 rebounds. Senior Nate Jean-Baptiste (Far Rockaway, NY) and junior Richard Fields (Bronx, NY) each added in 14 points and senior Bobby Spezzano (Greenwich, CT) chipped in 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

For Bridgeport, Ernest Daney tallied a game high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jeremy Benjamin scored 15 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. Japhet McNeil added 12 points and Casey Gordin chipped in 11 points for the Purple Knights. Bridgeport improves to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers will return to the Meyer Athletic Center on Saturday, January 20th, as they host the Knights of Queens College. The game will begin at 1:00 PM.
