WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Concordia College baseball team was back in action on Friday afternoon to take on Assumption and Rollins at the Alfond Stadium on the campus of Rollins College. The Clippers were unable to grab a win during the day as Concordia dropped a 4-0 decision to the Greyhounds and an 18-2 decision to the Tars.
Against Assumption, Concordia would only record six hits during the game as the Greyhounds scored lone runs in the third and fourth innings while adding two insurance runs in the eighth. Sophomore Enrico Locaseio (Staten Island, N.Y.) pitched 4.0 innings for the Clippers in the loss as he allowed two earned runs on three hits. Sophomore Patrick Rivera (Elmont, N.Y.) allowed the other two runs in 3.2 innings of work on three hits while striking out two batters as freshman Hermes Abreu (Bayshore, N.Y.) completed the final 1.1 innings recording four straight outs.
Concordia would score a lone run in the top of the first inning of their game against Rollins as freshman Blake Burgan (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded an RBI to allow freshman Jake Partridge (Bardonia, N.Y.) to score from third base. The Tars would answer with a pair of runs in the home half of the first, then added 10 runs in the second inning to lead 12-1.
Rollins would add three runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to lead 18-1. The Clippers' final run of the game would come in the top of the seventh as Partridge scored on a double play from third base. Freshman Daniel Borysowski (Melville, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss for Concordia as he allowed eight earned runs on five hits in 1.1 innings. The bullpen combined to complete the final 6.2 innings allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits while striking out five batters.
