Concordia Comes up Short against C.W. Post, 4-3

Myrtle Beach, SC – The Concordia College baseball team took to the field for the third straight day as they took on C.W. Post. A late run in the top of the ninth inning by the Pioneers secured a 4-3 win as the Clippers were unable to tie the game in last inning.

C.W. Post got on the scoreboard first after a wild pitch by Concordia allowed the runner from third base to score. The Pioneers scored another run in the top of the third as the Clippers responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Concordia tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning after a sacrifice ground out by David Perlleshi (Eastchester, NY).

Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning as the game was knotted going into the second half of the game. Over the next three innings, only two combined hits were recorded as it looked like extra innings would be inevitable.

However, a walk and a sacrifice bunt by C.W. Post allowed them to have a runner in scoring position with one out in the top of the ninth inning. An RBI single would drive in the go-ahead run as the Clippers could not tie the game in the bottom half of the ninth.

Felix Lopez (Brooklyn, NY) pitched a complete game for the Concordia as he allowed four earned runs and seven hits while striking out three batters. Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) stole two bases for the second straight game as Perlleshi recorded two RBI's.

The Clippers (0-3, 0-0 CACC) will conclude their fourth game in four days tomorrow as they take on Stonehill College. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm in Myrtle Beach, SC.
