Concordia Clippers to honor Damien Myers
The Concordia College NY athletic department will be honoring
Damien Myers on Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at the double
header baseball game as they retire his baseball number, 8.
Myers, from New York, NY, was a four year member of the Clippers
baseball program. A left-handed starting pitcher for the
Clippers, Myers has many accomplishments from his years in the
blue, yellow and white. Myers was named Male Freshman of the
Year as well as conference Rookie of the Year in 1999. As he
was named to the All-Conference team and the All-Regional team all
four years of collegiate ball. As a senior, Myers was named
the conference Co-Player of the Year and was a 1st Team
All-American.
On the mound Myers led the nation in 2002 with 14 victories, which also put him 4th in the NCAA with a 1.43 ERA as he pitched 107 innings with 31 runs and only 17 earned runs.
With a stellar senior year, Myers was then drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 27th Round in the 2002 MLB Draft. Myers then played pro ball through the next six years, pitching 160 career minor league innings with the Tigers as he held a 2.36 ERA.
After his minor league career, Myers came back to the Clippers and was an Assistant Coach for the 2007 and the 2008 seasons.
Myers currently is still is in the NCAA Division II Baseball Record Books as he is 7th in Career Victories with 40 wins in 68 appearances.
Myers graduated from Concordia this past August with a Behavioral Science degree and is currently working in Stamford, Connecticut in the education system.
