Carnacchio hits perfectly as Clippers take down the Warriors in non-conference action

The Clippers hosted the Nyack College Warriors in non-conference action today.  The Clippers placed freshman Raphael Martinez on the mound to start the game.  After his first pitch hit the batter Martinez settled down and retired the next three batters.

Anthony Carnacchio led the CLippers off in the first inning with a single to right field.  After a wild pitch Carnacchio moved up to second.  Donnie Roth reached on a fielder's choice to second base and Carnacchio moved to third.  As the second baseman for the Warriors went to throw Roth out, he threw the ball away and allowed Roth to move up to second and for Carnacchio to score. 

Two innings later the Clippers were at it again as Carnacchio led the inning off as he was walked aboard and then with another wild pitch from the Warrior's pitcher he moved up to second.  Donnie Roth hit into another fielders choice, this time to the short stop as Carnacchio moved up to third.  TJ Walsh got aboard the bases as he was hit by a pitch.  With another walk, this time to Billy O'Connell, the Clippers loaded the bases with two outs.  A single to left field by David Perlleshi scored Carnacchio.  Following suit Anthony Pisano hit a single to short stop and scored Walsh. 

The Warriors answered back in the top of the fourth as they would take the lead after scoring four runs.  Martinez worked through the inning despite the Warriors scoring run and was able to finish on a fielders choice ground out.

The Clippers had some work to do to reclaim the lead.   Christopher Motta led the bottom of the fourth off with a double to right field.  After a bunt single by Anthony Carnacchio, the Clippers had runners on the corner.  John Pliego knocked a singled to left field to score Motta and tie the game up.  Donnie Roth hit into another fielders choice and was able to score Carnacchio and the Clippers were back on top.  A sacrifice fly to right field by TJ Walsh scored Pliego.  With one out Billy O'Connell was hit by a pitch and the Clippers had two more runners itching to round the bases.  A double deep to left field by David Perlleshi scored both Pliego and O'Connell and the Clippers answered the Warriors back big. 

The Warriors scored one more run in the top of the sixth before the Clippers continued to hit the ball.  Luis Gonzalez hit a single down the left field line to start the Clippers fifth inning off.  Christopher Motta laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached safely and was able to reach all the way to third base as the Warriors pitcher threw the ball away.  On the same play Gonzalez easily crossed home plate.  A sacrifice fly ball from Anthony Carnacchio scored Motta.

The Clippers continued to hit well and they were able to a few more runs.  TJ Walsh led the Clippers sixth ining off with a single through the left side of the infield.  With Billy O'Connell up at the plate the Warriors through a ball right in O'Connell's wheel house and O'Connell hit a two run home run over the right field fence and onto Route 22.  Staying strong at the plate David Perlleshi as he hit the pitcher with a line drive and reached first base safely.  Perlleshi moved up to second as Anthony Pisano grounded out.  A one out sacrifice fly to left field by Luis Gonzalez scored Perlleshi and the Clippers well ahead. 

The Warriors added one more run in the top of the eighth inning but were unable to score any more.  The Clippers topped off their game with adding three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.  A double to left center from Luis Gonzalez kicked the inning off for the Clippers.  Christopher Motta then added himself to the bases as he was walked aboard.  Anthony Carnacchio was also walked and the Clippers had the bases loaded.  A single to left field from Matt Cintorino scored Gonzalez.  Donnie Roth followed up with his own single to left field as Motta scored.  Another sacrifice fly, this time to left field, by TJ Walsh scored Carnacchio and the Clippers sealed their 16-6 win over the Warriors.

Raphael Martinez picked up another win for himself as he went 5.2 innings wtih 4 strike outs. 

Anthony Carnacchio was perfect at the plate as he went 3 for 3 with 4 runs scored and 1 RBI.  TJ Walsh hit 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  Billy O'Connell went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  David Perlleshi added 3 RBI's as he hit 3 for 6 with 1 run scored.  Luis Gonzales rounded the bases twice as he hit 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Christopher Motta hit 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored and added 12 putouts from behind the plate. 

The Clippers will face off against Nyack College tomorrow in a CACC match-up at 3:00pm.
