Paradise collects 10 strike outs as Clippers defeat Warriors

Box score

The Clippers faced off against the Nyack College Warriors with this time counting toward conferences.  The Clippers started off slow at the plate during the first couple of innings as only a few hits were collected.

The Clippers put Tommy Paradise on the mound for today's game.  Still working back after an injury, Paradise gave up a hit to start his game off.  Without hesitating Paradise then struck out the next two batters as they both swung and missed.  With retiring the last batter with a line out to right field Paradise was on form.

The Clippers looked to help out Paradise on the offensive side of the game but nothing would come until the top of the fifth.  Difre Reyes led the inning off with a single.  Reyes then moved up to second as Mike Sciaccitano laid a sacrifice bunt.  A single by Anthony Carnacchio put Reyes just 90 feet from touching home and putting the Clippers on the board.  A single from John Pliego allowed Reyes to score for the Clippers to go ahead 1-0.

Paradise continued to dominate inning after inning including his fifth where he struck out the side.  Paradise looked on to his teammates as they continued to hit the ball.

Billy O'Connell led the sixth inning off.  With taking just one pitch O'Connell hit the ball over the right field fence for the second day in a row.  Difre Reyes then stepped to the plate with two outs and got on with a single.  Mike Sciacchitano ripped the ball for a double and Reyes scored once more.  The Clippers were up 3-0 after six complete.

Paradise pitching into his seventh inning let up the Warriors only run but would finish the inning with two more strike outs to give him ten total for the game.

The Clippers kicked off the last inning of play as Donnie Roth knocked a double to get on base.  A single from TJ Walsh moved Roth up to third and the Clippers had runners on the corners.  Billy O'Connell hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field to score Roth.  A sacrifice bunt from David Perlleshi allowed Walsh to move to second.  Greg Conway grabbed a hit with a single and Walsh touched home to score.  Difre Reyes was walked for the second time and the Clippers had two on.  Another single from Mike Sciacchitano scored Conway and the Clippers were up 6-1.

Keith Malanga finished the game for the Clippers as he retired the side in the bottom of the ninth inning and sealed the win for Paradise.

Difre Reyes hit 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored.  Mike Sciacchitano hit 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's on the day.  David Perlleshi hit 2 for 4 while Donnie Roth and John Pliego each hit 2 for 5.

The Clippers will face Nyack College once more tomorrow at 7:00pm at Nyack High School.
