Clippers fall to Dominican

Box score

The Clippers hosted the Dominican College Chargers once again in a CACC throw down.  Today the Clippers put Peter Denyssenko on the mound for the game.

Denyssenko went through the first three innings with little trouble as he and the Clippers defense behind him allowed no one past second base.

In the bottom of the first the Clippers saw their first hit.  After John Pliego was walked, David Perlleshi hit a single to shortstop.  After Perlleshi's single the Clippers struggled to hit and when the Clippers were able to get a runner on base they were unable to capitalize.

The Chargers were able to score in the top of the fourth and did not let up as they found ways to score in the innings that followed.

The Clippers got their second hit of the game in the bottom of the seventh as Billy O'Connell hit a two out double down the right field line.  As Difre Reyes was walked aboard the Clippers had two men on.  A single through the left side by Anthony Carnacchio loaded the bases up for the Clippers.  With a fly ball to end the inning the Clippers missed a chance to anyone score.

The bottom of the ninth rolled around and the Clippers needed a huge momentum swing as they were trailing.  Christopher Motta started off the inning with a walk.  After stealing second Motta scored after Mike Sciacchitano hit a one out double to deep center field.  Luis Gonzalez then stepped up and hit a two out double to right center field to trade places with Sciacchitano as the Clippers got their first two runs.

Even with the two runs scored in the bottom of the ninth the Clippers could not catch up to the Chargers and dropped the game.

The Clippers will head to Franklin Pierce tomorrow for a 7:00pm game.
