Clippers take Cougars down in game 2 and a half

Box score Game 2

The Clippers headed back to Caldwell College today to finish out the second game of the double header from April 11th.

To recap what happened in the beginning of the second game, Tommy Paradise was on the mound as the Clippers were up 2-1 over the Cougars.  A single from David Perlleshi in the top of the first inning scored John Pliego to take the lead 1-0.  The Cougars then came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.  The Clippers then struck in the top of the fifth as Difre Reyes hit a single to left field to score Perlleshi for the Clippers to take a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth inning the Clippers had two outs on the Cougars as the Cougars had a runner on second and the batter had one strike on him before the lights went out for the game to be halted.

Just like the 2008 MLB World Series Champions the game was picked up  where it left off.  The Clippers put Tommy Paradise back on the mound to finish what he started.  Paradise was able to strike the batter out that was at the plate at the start.

The Cougars then tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh.  With the top of the eighth in play the Clippers as Greg Conway was hit by a pitch to start off the inning.  A sacrifice bunt by Difre Reyes moved Conway up to second.  Luis Gonzalez hit a single up the middle to score Conway and the Clippers reclaimed the lead.  A single back to the pitcher put Anthony Carnacchio on board.  Billy O'Connell was then walked with two outs to load the bases.  Gonzalez scored as Donnie Roth was walked aboard and the Clippers took a 4-2 lead.

Difre Reyes started the ninth inning off with a double do wn the left field line with two outs.  A double to center field by Luis Gonzalez scored Reyes for the Clippers to add another run to their total.

Tommy Paradise continued to pitch well as he was able to finish out the ninth inning even though the Cougars got one run.  Paradise pitched the complete game (over the two different days) as he struck out 12 batters to claim another win.

The Clippers will head to Bloomfield College for a non-conference game tomorrow at 7:00pm.
