Four Clippers Earn All-Conference Accolades

Central Islip, NY - The East Coast Conference has announced the 2009 All-Conference Baseball Teams and four Clippers were named to the Third team, as announced by the conference office yesterday evening. Shortstop Donnie Roth (Congers, NY), outfielder Joe Vaskas (Bethpage, NY) and pitchers Peter Denyssenko (Larchmont, NY) and Jose Aquino (Bronx, NY) were all voted to the Third Team by the ECC head coaches.

Roth started all 47 games for the Clippers this season and led the ECC in stolen bases with 27. Roth batted .257 on the year and led the Clippers in runs (47), was second on the team in hits (47) and was tied for third in RBI (21).

Vaskas played in 34 games for the Clippers and led the ECC in batting average during the regular season with a .397 average. The sophomore led the Clippers with a team high 50 hits and 13 doubles and was tied for third with 21 RBI on the year.

Denyssenko appeared on the mound in 16 games this season and finished with a record of 6-2 with 4 saves and a 3.63 ERA. Denyssenko pitched 57 innings and allowed 59 hits and 23 earned runs. The sophomore also struck out 35 batters this season and was named ECC Pitcher of the Week back on April 6th.

Aquino pitched in 13 games this year and ended with a 6-4 record and a 5.75 ERA. Aquino pitched 61 innings and gave up 58 hits and 39 earned runs on the season. The senior was second on the team in strikeouts (45).
