Boxscore

Bronxville, NY - Sophomore Mike Sciacchitano (Wappinger, NY) drove in two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Clippers a 2-1 win over the Golden Lions of Dowling College yesterday at Clipper Baseball Field in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers even their record to 16-16-1 overall and 8-4 in the East Coast Conference. The Golden Lions fall to 14-10 on the season and 6-6 in conference play.

Dowling got on the scoreboard in the 6th inning when Colin Barnathan hit a sac fly to right field, scoring Brian Ferguson from third base for a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, junior Donnie Roth (Congers, NY) drew a 1-out walk and junior Difre Reyes (Manhattan, NY) was hit by a pitch, putting the winning run on first base. Junior Greg Conway (Floral Park, NY) stepped to the plate and popped up to the Dowling catcher, advancing both runners. Sciacchitano stepped up to the plate and hit a ground ball to the Dowling second baseman for what looked to be the final out of the game. However, an error on the play allowed both Roth and Reyes to score, giving the Clippers the 2-1 win.

Senior Jose Aquino (Bronx, NY) picks-up the win for the Clippers and improves to 4-3 on the season.

Concordia will travel to Bridgeport, CT on Friday, April 10th to face the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in an ECC match-up. The game will begin at 1:00 PM.
