Concordia Falls to Dowling 6-0
Brookhaven, NY - The Concordia College baseball team lost an East Coast Conference match-up to the Golden Lions of Dowling College 6-0 yesterday at Golden Lions Field in Brookhaven, NY. The Clippers suffered their third straight loss and first ECC loss and fall to 10-13-1 overall and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference. Dowling improves to 10-5 on the season and 2-2 in ECC contests.
Sophomore Joe Vaskas (Bethpage, NY) went a perfect 4-4 for the Clippers. Junior Anthony Carnacchio (Rockaway, NY) and freshman Vincent Ferraro (Mt. Kisco, NY) tallied the remaining two hits for Concordia. Senior Robert Gorvetzian (Jackson Heights, NY) pitched 6.0 innings for the Clippers, allowing 6 hits and 2 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. Gorvetzian falls to 2-2 on the year.
For the Golden Lions, David Wednt went 2-3 and scored 2 runs. Kevin McCormack pitched 8 innings in picking up the win, allowing only 6 hits and striking out 6 batters. McCormack improves to 1-1 on the season.
The Clippers will return to Clipper Baseball Field on Saturday, March 28th, as they host the Mavericks of Mercy College in an ECC doubleheader. The action will begin at 12:00 PM.
